What is it?
It is a different way to offer acupuncture services. Instead of being treated on a table in a private room patients are treated together in a room while seated in chairs.
When is it? At Joy Acupuncture we hold Low Cost Clinics on Mondays and Fridays from 2pm to 5pm. Appointments are required. Call 619-322-4492 or follow the link to online scheduling to make an appointment. What does it cost?
We charge on a sliding scale from $20-$40 per treatment with an additional $10 initial visit fee. You pick your rate based on income and circumstances, we do not check up on you.
What about medical privacy?
Jocelyn takes great care to only discuss your health concerns with you alone. That may mean talking with you in private before the treatment outside of the room.
What about personal privacy?
Most of the points used are found on the hands, feet, and outer ear, so patients remain fully clothed. If there is a need for more privacy we can attend to that.
Why offer Low Cost Acupuncture?
There are so many people that could be helped with acupuncture and many of them cannot afford the private sessions ($60-$80 a treatment). The real power of acupuncture to heal the body is seen with repeated treatment over time. Low Cost Community Acupuncture gives many more people the opportunity to experience this medicine as it was meant to be practiced, to get the treatment they need to get better and stay that way.
If I want to be treated privately, can I?
Joy Acupuncture does offer private acupuncture treatments as well, though they are more expensive they do afford you extra time and personal attention. Please discuss your concerns before therapy begins. Some people go back and forth between private and community acupuncture depending on their schedule and needs.
Is Low Cost Community Acupuncture only for poor people? Not at all. The sliding scale we use is suggested only, and you recieve the same quality of care we give all our patients.
What can be treated by Community Acupuncture?
We have successfully treated people with low back pain, sciatica, upper back pain, post herpatic neuralgia, bells palsy, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), shoulder pain, knee pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, smoking addiction, gastric reflux, headaches of all kinds. This list could go on and on!
Is it weird to be treated with others around?
A few people have felt self-conscious at first, though they quickly feel the benefit of this community setting and now prefer it.
How many treatments will I need?
Jocelyn will recommend a treatment based on your condition and her years of experience as an acupuncturist.
Please feel free to call and talk directly to Jocelyn Joy, L.Ac. if you have any other questions. You can contact us at 619-322-4492.
As part of our community outreach we are delighted to give talks at your group or organization about community acupuncture. We want as many people as possible to know about this affordable and effective treatment option.
